Security Tips

We are confident of the security of the site, but this is a two-way street. Follow our online security tips below to ensure your privacy is never compromised.

  • Protect your identity. Your personal details are precious – keep them safe and secure. Do not give them out to anyone else.
  • Be wary of spam emails and phishing emails, some of which are designed specifically to steal your identity. Block them wherever possible.
  • Stay safe online and be wary of fraudulent online shops and sites, which may contain spyware – software that secretly monitors a user’s activity, scans for private information or gives outsiders control of your computer.
  • Protect your PC with a multi-layered defence system - anti-virus, anti-spyware and a firewall – and update it regularly. - Protect yourself against eavesdroppers and freeloaders who can ‘listen in’ to your computer by using encryption on your wireless network.
  • Choose strong passwords – a mix of numbers, words and punctuation - and use different passwords for different sites to make it harder for identity thieves. - Be careful of how much you publish about yourself online. Identity thieves often use social networking sites and blogs to piece together information about you.
  • Lastly, if you believe your online security has been compromised, contact CIB immediately.
